Launching Our Project with the Iraqi Diaspora

We are thrilled to announce the addition of Ayad Amin to the EPIC team! Ayad will be coordinating our newest program, the Connection Initiative.

In partnership with Professionals for a Better Iraq and with funding from the National Endowment for Democracy, EPIC’s Connection Initiative will seek to connect members of the Iraqi diaspora living in the United States with civil society organizations in their native Iraq who need their time and talent.

Since arriving in the U.S. from Iraq in 2006, Ayad has worked with a number of refugee resettlement and aid organizations in the Washington, DC area, including five years with the Iraqi Cultural Center, where he helped promote mutual understanding and campaign to retrieve Iraqi antiquities looted since 2003. In 2015, Ayad helped establish Voices for Iraq to assist in Iraq’s redevelopment, share Iraqi culture with the American public, and preserve the country’s heritage for future generations.

In addition to his role with the Connection Initiative, Ayad will provide comprehensive support of our efforts to enhance understanding of Iraq’s story, monitor the crisis to inform smarter public policy, and provide relief through on-the-ground programming.

Please reach out to Ayad with your words of welcome and ideas for our ongoing work: ayad@epic-usa.org. And stay tuned for more updates as our Connection Initiative gets underway!
