On March 4th, EPIC and the Reserve Officers Association hosted a panel discussion about the future of civil society in Iraq.
Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Michael Corbin opened the panel by noting that in the United States we don’t talk about Iraqi civil society very often, but that civil society is critical to Iraq’s future.
Other panelists from Mercy Corps and International Medical Corps talked about their organizations’ work to leave behind a physical and human infrastructure in Iraq. And an important part of that infrastructure international organizations are helping build is the capacity of Iraqi civil society organizations.
